Pokkali farming, a system in which paddy and shrimp are grown alternately in the same field is becoming smaller day by day and not proving to be remunerative.

In light of this, the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) has suggested a new method of integrating fish growing in iron cages along with regular paddy and shrimp cultivation.

A new species of tiny blenniiform fish has been discovered in the southern Caribbean.  At around 2cm in length, the Haptoclinus dropiis has beautiful color pattern that includes iridescence on the fins.

The proposed common name of the species is four-fin blenny, due to the division of the dorsal fin into four sections, which is a distinguishing feature of the genus and unique among blenniiform fishes.

Fish feeds and fish nutrition will be the main topics at the Idaho Aquaculture Association annual meeting June 8 at the College of Southern Idaho.

The aquaculture association project is coming into its final year and is focused on alternatives to fish meal in trout diets.
