Canadian mussel farm Connaigre Fish Farms Inc., has received CAD$33,367 from the provincial government to develop deep water mussel socking and harvesting technology.
The farm operates two mussel sites on the Connaigre Peninsula, located on the south coast of the island of Newfoundland. The two sites have a total 457 hectares of available growing space.

Asia's demand for a live supply of rice eel (Monopterus albus), is growing.
In light of this, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the Philippines has designed a trap which can hold live eels.
In the first half of the year, the rice eel brought an estimated amount of P517 million export value. BFAR estimates the export value will reach one billion by the end of the year.

A brief explanation of geosynthetics will begin the webinar, which will taking place on Wednesday 11 December 2013 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm (EST), followed by a discussion on specific aqauculture operations including lined ponds, factory controlled systems and offshore fish pens and cages.
