Four of the UK based Aquaculture without Frontiers trustees visited the organisations founder Michael New O.B.E. today in his home town of Marlow.

Michael is recovering from major heart by-pass surgery and his visitors soon discovered he is making great strides in his return to activity.

Plenty of discussion took place over a meal on all things current with some wonderful humorous interludes that showed Michael to be in great form.

Plans are now being made for the next stages in the development of the UK Charitable Incorporated Organisation re-formed this year and which represents a return to prominence of the original organisation formed under Michael’s inspiration and direction in 2004.

This had been disbanded in 2012 as Michael wound down on his personal activities and at that time residual funds and legacy contacts were passed to its US counterpart (also inspired and formed by Michael) to ensure continued effort in Aquaculture without Frontiers work.

Discussion in particular covered recent exploratory trips by the UK organisation’s trustees to Vietnam and Ethiopia that are yielding new ideas for fund-raising and dissemination of charitable assistance to worthy communities and organisations.

Plans were also laid for 2017 and a significant global programme is under construction including working with the World Aquaculture Society on its inaugural African event in Cape Town next June.

The UK board has specialist expertise and contacts across the African continent which will be made available to the event organisers ensuring that deserving African communities obtain maximum benefit from that event.

Also plans for the Far East were discussed as well as the build-up of UK based training expertise to assist in the charities work. The afternoon revealed you can’t keep a good man and his good idea down!
