An international study - the largest to date - indicates that tropical species, such as those native to Australia's Great Barrier Reef, are most at risk of extinction due to climate change, The Guardian reports.

Marine species outside of the tropics are predicted to cope relatively well with a rapidly warming climate by shifting their ranges, but tropical species, having narrower ranges, are more likely to die out.
